CryptoFranc (XCHF) is a stablecoin pegged one-to-one to the Swiss franc, issued by the Swiss company Swiss Crypto Tokens. Every token in circulation is backed by an actual franc held in a Swiss bank account, and the token itself runs on Ethereum as an ERC-20 smart contract. In plain terms, it's the Swiss franc reworked for the blockchain — the same money, just in digital, transferable form.

Frequently asked questions

What is CryptoFranc, and how is it different from other stablecoins?

XCHF tracks the Swiss franc instead of the US dollar, which immediately sets it apart from mainstream stablecoins like USDT or USDC. It was built by a Swiss issuer with reserves held in Swiss bank accounts, so it's essentially a digital franc rather than a digital dollar. That's the whole idea: franc-denominated stability in token form.

How does CryptoFranc work technically?

XCHF is an ERC-20 token living on the Ethereum blockchain, so its transactions are validated by Ethereum's network — it has no consensus mechanism of its own. The official smart contract sits at 0xb4272071ecadd69d933adcd19ca99fe80664fc08, and that's the address you should always double-check before sending funds anywhere. Being a standard token also means it works out of the box with Ethereum wallets and DeFi apps.

How is XCHF issued and kept backed?

The model is straightforward: tokens are minted only when someone deposits real Swiss francs with the issuer, and those francs sit in a bank account as the reserve. When tokens are redeemed for cash, they are burned, so the circulating supply is designed to mirror the reserves at all times. This mint-and-burn loop is what keeps the peg honest.

How can I store and use CryptoFranc?

Since it's a regular ERC-20 token, any Ethereum-compatible wallet will do — MetaMask, Trust Wallet, or a hardware wallet like Ledger or Trezor. You can send it anywhere in the world like any other crypto, use it in DeFi protocols, or redeem it for francs through the issuer. For current redemption terms, the official site at swisscryptotokens.ch is the place to check.
