Evmos (EVMOS)

Evmos is a Cosmos-based blockchain that runs the Ethereum Virtual Machine, so it supports Solidity smart contracts and MetaMask just like Ethereum. The key difference is that it uses Cosmos SDK and connects to other blockchains via IBC, making cross-chain transfers native. It also uses EVMOS as its own token for fees, staking, and governance.

Evmos uses Tendermint Core's Proof-of-Stake consensus, provided by the CometBFT engine, which gives fast block finality — transactions are confirmed in seconds rather than waiting through probabilistic confirmations. Validators secure the network by staking EVMOS, and token holders can delegate their coins to validators to earn rewards and participate in governance.

EVMOS has a dynamic inflation model: the staking reward rate adjusts based on how much of the total supply is staked, aiming to keep a healthy balance between staked and liquid tokens. New tokens are issued as rewards to validators and delegators, and a portion of fees is burned, which can offset inflation. The specifics evolve through governance, so it's worth checking current parameters on-chain.

You can store EVMOS in Cosmos-compatible wallets like Keplr, or use MetaMask since Evmos supports the EVM — you just need to add the network manually. The token is used to pay for transactions, deploy smart contracts, stake with validators, and vote on governance proposals. You can also transfer it across Cosmos chains via IBC.
