Bitcoin Surges Past $60K After U.S. Jobs Report

In a significant market movement, Bitcoin (BTC-USD) experienced a notable increase, surpassing the $60,000 mark following the release of a softer-than-expected U.S. jobs report. This development has eased concerns among investors regarding the potential for prolonged high interest rates, leading to a positive shift in cryptocurrency valuations.

On Friday, shortly after the U.S. Department of Labor released the April nonfarms payroll report, Bitcoin's value surged by 4%, reaching $61.7K by 3:27 p.m. ET. This jump came after a period of trading around $59.1K. The report indicated that the U.S. economy added 175,000 jobs in April, falling short of the anticipated 243,000 and marking a slowdown from March's revised figure of 315,000 jobs.

This represents the smallest increase in payroll growth for the year 2024. Additionally, wage growth showed signs of cooling last month, suggesting the possibility of the Federal Reserve adopting a more lenient approach to interest rates later in the year.

Ether (ETH-USD), another leading cryptocurrency, also benefited from the jobs data, climbing 2.2% to $3.06K. The rise in cryptocurrency values coincided with a robust rally in the stock market, highlighting investor optimism in the face of the latest economic indicators.
