New Telegram Feature Allows to Hide Phone Number

From now on, users have the opportunity to change privacy settings, where they can choose who can see their number:

• all users;
• only people from a contact list;
  
• no one.

Besides, a new function allows choosing who can find the user by phone number. This means that even random users who enter a phone number in the search will not be able to find the person’s account on Telegram.

Note that earlier the phone number of the messenger user was displayed in automatic mode if the number was saved in the contacts of the interlocutor. Telegram users from Hong Kong began to complain because law enforcement agencies could identify the protesters.

The Telegram development team quickly responded to this comment from customers, and the addition of a new feature is the evidence of this.
