Ethereum Could Become the First Public Blockchain on Hyperledger

Pantheon is an Ethereum-based service suite created by PegaSys, a team of engineers at ConsenSys. The Pantheon Ethereum customer, written in the Java programming language, is used for developing enterprise apps with such features as privacy and authorization processing.

Hyperledger Proposal and Pantheon Renaming Details

The offer was sent in an email by the Hyperledger mailing list on August 8, and if is accepted, Pantheon will be renamed into Hyperledger Besu (Japanese term meaning base or foundation).

If the initiative is approved, the Pantheon protocol will be transfered to Hyperledger, bringing together blockchain projects such as Hyperledger Fabric from IBM and Hyperledger Sawtooth from Intel.

Integration with Public and Private Ethereum Networks

Pantheon will be the first public blockchain project attached to Hyperledger. It means that the Pantheon code will be published on the official Hyperledger page on GitHub and open to the participation of developers already involved in the project.

Pantheon operates on the Ethereum public network, other private networks and test networks such as Rinkeby, Ropsten, and Görli.

A similar proposal came in connection with the fact that last month a competitor R3 Hyperledger announced that it had begun the process of hiring employees and expanding the London office.
