Bitcoin ETFs See 18 Days of Consecutive Inflows, Options Traders Target $100,000

Bitcoin ETFs in the United States have witnessed a remarkable 18-day streak of net inflows, contributing to the cryptocurrency's recent surge towards its all-time high.

According to Bloomberg data, spot Bitcoin ETFs managed by major financial institutions like BlackRock and Fidelity Investments have attracted $15.6 billion in net subscriptions since their launch on January 11, bringing total assets under management to $62.3 billion.

The success of these ETFs has been unprecedented, with Bloomberg highlighting them as some of the most successful ETF launches in history. This has shifted the center of gravity for cryptocurrency investments from Asia to the United States.

Macro Factors and Growth of Bitcoin Funds

Sean Farrell, Head of Digital Asset Strategy at Fundstrat, attributes the inflows to a favorable macroeconomic environment, citing non-recessionary economic growth and persistent signs of disinflation.

BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust, with $21.4 billion in assets, has now surpassed Grayscale's Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) to become the world's largest Bitcoin fund. Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC), with $12.3 billion in assets, holds the third position.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), initially hesitant about digital assets, reluctantly approved spot Bitcoin ETFs in January, following a court reversal of its lawsuit against Grayscale in 2023. While the SEC remains cautious about regulatory compliance in the crypto industry, Congressional efforts to establish clearer legislative frameworks for cryptocurrencies have gained momentum.

Options Market Outlook and Price Targets

Meanwhile, options traders are displaying increased optimism about Bitcoin's future. Open interest is concentrated on call options with strike prices of $75,000, $80,000, and $100,000.

Luuk Strijers, CEO of Deribit, the largest crypto options exchange, highlights the bullish sentiment in the BTC options market, citing strong Bitcoin ETF inflows, expectations of US interest rate cuts, the European Central Bank's rate cuts, and the recent approval of an ETH ETF.

Bitcoin, after a minor pullback from its record high of $73,700 in March, has regained momentum fueled by ETF inflows and expectations of interest rate cuts. Call options expiring in late June and December are particularly active, signaling positive short- and long-term outlooks.

As of press time, Bitcoin has consolidated above the $70,000 mark, with gains of 5% over the past week, reaching a current price of $71,320.
