Morgan Stanley to Offer Bitcoin ETF Recommendations to Wealth Management Clients

Morgan Stanley is reportedly planning to authorize its financial advisors to recommend Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to wealth management clients. This move signifies a shift from the bank's previous stance, which only allowed unsolicited purchases of Bitcoin ETFs following their approval earlier this year.
Morgan Stanley Brokers to Recommend Bitcoin ETFs
According to a report by AdvisorHub on November 2, 2023, the Wall Street bank aims to grant its approximately 15,000 brokers the ability to actively suggest Bitcoin ETFs as investment options for their clients.
This decision reflects the growing demand for spot Bitcoin ETFs, which offer investors exposure to the cryptocurrency without direct ownership. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) greenlit 11 spot Bitcoin ETFs in January 2023, including offerings from major investment firms such as BlackRock, Fidelity, and Invesco.
While these ETFs initially saw significant inflows, recent months have witnessed a decline in momentum. Morgan Stanley's potential policy change could reinvigorate interest and bring fresh capital into the Bitcoin ETF market.
