Alibaba and OneConnect Lead China's Blockchain Patent List

At the beginning of the year, Alibaba had a total of 6,175 approved patents and 13,336 applications filed. It got another 3112 patents during the first half of the year. OneConnect’s result is lower. The company became the owner of 2850 domestic and 542 foreign blockchain patents.

These two companies turned out to be similar not only in terms of patenting - both business giants launched an IPO at the same time. On November 13, Alibaba put up 500 new shares for sale on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (SEHK).

On the same day, OneConnect representatives applied to the US SEC for the sale of 10 million depository receipts (ADS). While Alibaba leads in the number of patents, OneConnect leads in quality. Its blockchain projects are successfully used by the Chinese government.
