Tim Cook: Apple Doesn't Plan to Create Its Own Cryptocurrency
Cook made this statement during the interview, which he gave to the French journal Les Echos:
No, I truly think currency should remain in the hands of the state. I’m not comfortable with the idea that a private entity can create a modern currency.
Nowadays Apple has been actively competing with such companies as PayPal, Visa, and Mastercard on the payment market. It is promoting the own payment service Apple Pay. It should be mentioned that all of the listed competing companies are Libra Association members, although it is rumored that they intend to leave this project, due to increased pressure from regulatory authorities.
