Bitcoin Price Dips Below $62K as Whales Remain Unfazed

Bitcoin (BTC) experienced a further decline in value on Tuesday, dipping below $62,000 twice during the Asian trading session. This downward trend extended the cryptocurrency's recent retreat from its March 14 all-time high.
The price action was accompanied by a generally nervous sentiment across risk-asset markets, with US stocks also exhibiting weakness at the Wall Street opening. Popular trader Skew highlighted the importance of Bitcoin holding above the $62,000 level to maintain any hope of a significant rebound.
Skew further noted a risk-off sentiment across exchanges, characterized by consistent de-risking and a prevailing pessimistic outlook in the perpetual swaps markets. While suggesting a potential bullish reaction during European trading hours, the market remained predominantly sideways at the time of writing.
Bitcoin Price Volatility and Downside Targets
Potential downside targets for Bitcoin's price action were identified, extending to $59,000 for April 16 and below $40,000 in the long term. Monitoring platform Whalemap identified $52,000 and $48,000 as other key support levels.
Despite the recent price volatility, large-volume investors, commonly referred to as whales, have shown resilience in the face of the downturn. Research firm Santiment reported ongoing increases in exposure from these investors since March.
Since March 1, wallets holding between 100 BTC and 1,000 BTC have accumulated nearly 44,000 coins. Larger wallet classes added more than double that tally, even though Bitcoin's latest all-time high was recorded on March 14.
Whale Accumulation and Market Resilience
The whales' unwavering stance suggests that they remain confident in Bitcoin's long-term prospects, despite the short-term price fluctuations. Their continued accumulation could signal a potential bottom formation and a possible price reversal in the coming days or weeks.
However, it is crucial for traders and investors to exercise caution and conduct thorough research before making any investment decisions, as the cryptocurrency market remains volatile and prone to sudden price movements.
